Acupuncture has over 3,000 years history, it is one of the oldest healing methods in the world. Acupuncture is based on the knowledge of vital Qi and blood flow to the whole body. They travel through meridians or channels as the pathways (they are similar but not identical to the nervous and blood circulatory systems). Once there is deficient or blocked, Qi and blood cannot carry necessities for our organs, the body stops functioning normally and will eventually become ill.
By inserting needles into specific points along the meridians, the Qi and blood flow will be restored and it will also strengthen the body by promote blood circulation, unblock the stagnation in the meridians, and the body will return to its normal function to heal naturally. From research, acupuncture stimulates the central nervous system and increases the production of endorphins and encephalins, which are natural chemicals improve the circulation and mood, as well as benefit overall feeling of well-being .

Chinese Herbal Medicine has almost 3,000 years history along with acupuncture treatment. There are 5,767 medicinal substances currently in use, including not only plants, but also animals and minerals. Herbal prescription begins with the classification of single herbs according to their essential nature and primary effects. Each herb has been studied and recorded for its flavor, therapeutic property. They are also categorized according to its primary therapeutic action, such as anti-inflammatories, diuretics, digestives, relaxants, tonics and so on.
After the evaluation of each patient, final prescription will then base upon the nature of the herbs and disease, along with the patient’s physical condition. Different patient that is evaluated will likely receive a different formula, each herb in a formula has a multitude of active chemical compounds that are responsible for how an herb accomplishes its various tasks. Since each unique person is different, the reason for a disorder’s existence will be unique and requires different methods for healing.
Studies show that Chinese herbs subdue pathogens and infections, enhance circulation, and also effective for physical, psychological and emotional problems. It is a natural healing modality for maintaining optimum health and preventing illness.
Chinese herbal medicine works by using natural plant-based remedies to promote healing and balance in the body. These herbal remedies are formulated to address specific health issues, and are often combined with other traditional Chinese medicine treatments like acupuncture and dietary therapy.
According to traditional Chinese medicine theory, the body is composed of different systems or pathways, known as meridians, which carry Qi (vital energy) throughout the body. When there is a blockage or imbalance in these meridians, it can result in illness or disease. Chinese herbal medicine works by targeting these imbalances in the body and restoring balance to the affected meridians.
Herbal remedies are typically made from natural plants, minerals, and other substances. These ingredients are carefully selected and combined to create a formula that addresses the specific health issue or imbalance being treated. Herbal formulas are often customized to the individual's unique needs, taking into account their specific symptoms, medical history, and overall health.
When taken, Chinese herbal remedies are believed to work by nourishing and supporting the body's natural healing processes. They may help to promote circulation, reduce inflammation, support the immune system, and restore balance to the affected meridians.
Overall, Chinese herbal medicine is a holistic approach to healing that works to address the underlying imbalances and root causes of illness, rather than just treating the symptoms. It can be a safe and effective treatment option for many health issues, when prescribed and monitored by a licensed practitioner. Click here to request a 10-15 phone call with Cathy Cai L.Ac.
Cupping therapy is an ancient form of Traditional Chinese Medicine and acupuncture in which special cups are put on the skin, which usually made of glass, they are left to create suction, from 5 to 20 minutes depending on the nature of the individual's condition . Suction can be created by placing an inverted cup over a small flame which come from lighting an alcohol-soaked cotton pad. Flames are never used near the skin and are not lit throughout the process of cupping, but rather are a means to create the heat that causes the suction within the small cups.
Cupping increases blood circulation to the area where the cups are placed, it helps move the stagnation of Qi and blood that causes pain and disease, also invigorates local circulation of Qi and blood in the area being treated. Cupping can resolve swelling, pain, and tension, also improve overall blood flow also promote cell repair. By drawing impurities to the surface, it removes toxins.
